The Fall 2009 issue of the UNC publication Endeavors profiled the Pomp lab’s investigation of exercise behavior in mice. This complex trait fits in well with lab focus on obesity genetics. The article explains how the variation in voluntary exercise propensity in mice can be selected to generate mice at the extremes of the exercise spectrum, providing a tool to map the genes involved. Insights into the associated health and physiology of the mice are also studied. Please see the full article for more details. The article was written and submitted by Scott Kelly, a postdoctoral fellow in the lab.
